Passion and Purpose - Our Narrative
Acacia Ferry and Jordan Flenady
23 MAR 2023 - 3 MAY 2024
Passion and Purpose - Our Narrative is a youth exhibition by local emerging artists Acacia Ferry and Jordan Flenady. An exploratory mix of sculpture, installation art and painting, each artist uses creativity as a pathway for sharing their personal experience of life with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
This exhibition is the result of a long creative process. Each artwork involves experimentation with various mediums, concepts and the refining of the artist’s unique creative voice. Ferry and Flenady both find creative inspiration in personal interests and hobbies. For Acacia Ferry, key subjects include reading as an escape to other worlds and the therapeutic benefits of natural environments and animals in her life. Jordan Flenady’s practice revolves around sports, machinery and games as ways of expressing his passion.
Passion and Purpose – Our Narrative has developed under the guidance of artist and curator Sarah Larsen, who specialises in art therapy for the management of ASD. As well as being expressive, art is used by Ferry and Flenady as a tool for focus and meditation. Viewers are encouraged to share in the works by participating in the interactive aspects of this exhibition.
Passion and Purpose – Our Narrative coincides with World Autism Awareness Day on April 2nd, to shine a light on the talent and perseverance within the ASD community
