Forum addresses electricity costs and alternative energy options
Electricity costs and energy options will be hot topics at an upcoming forum, the next in a series of North Burnett Ag Network events.
Coordinated by BIEDO, the North Burnett Ag Network Energy Forum, will be held at Mulgildie’s Community Hall from 10am to 3pm on Tuesday 28 May 2019. Coinciding with Queensland Small Business Week, the Forum will be an opportunity for ag-based businesses to participate in a discussion about the needs and impact of electricity on operations.
BIEDO Chief Executive Officer, Kristy Frahm said everyone was welcome to come along to the Ag Network Energy Forum, “we look forward to opening up the topic of electricity costs and energy sources relative to agricultural and horticultural businesses. It plays such a crucial role in many operations so it’s important to keep updated with potential changes to the sector, along with measures to improve efficiency and reduce costs.”
Electricity, in particular the cost of electricity, was identified as one of the key challenges facing industry at the first North Burnett Ag Network meeting. The Energy Forum will provide a platform to unpack various aspects of what is a vital production input for a range of ag-related operations throughout the Burnett inland.
Importantly, the Energy Forum is taking a holistic approach to the topic with the program featuring sessions on electricity generation, energy options and electricity costs. Representatives from a range of businesses and agencies involved with energy will also be in attendance, keen to connect with producers and growers.
The North Burnett Ag Network Energy Forum is a free event with morning tea and lunch provided, made possible by funding from FRRR and AgForce. Their support is greatly appreciated.
Anyone interested in attending the North Burnett Ag Network Energy Forum is asked to RSVP to BIEDO by calling 0400 695 456 or emailing connect@biedo.org.au
