Taroom residents asked to conserve water
Taroom residents are urged to conserve water after water usage increased significantly in recent days as a result of the current hot weather.
The increased volume of water being used exceeded the town’s bore capacity.
With the heatwave conditions predicted to continue throughout the week, if daily water consumption is not reduced, there is a danger that the town will be without water as the reservoir storage empties.
Council has temporarily closed the drinking water standpipes at the water treatment plant for filling water tankers.
As a precaution residents are asked to use town water for essential domestic use only (drinking, toilet flushing, cooking, washing clothes, watering pets etc). Residents are asked to refrain from using sprinklers, washing cars, filling pools, excess garden watering or any activities that will use high volumes of water until further advised.
