Moura Basketball Courts Redevelopment
Moura Basketball Courts Redevelopment
Have Your Say
Banana Shire Council undertook community engagement in Moura during 2020 which identified the need for more youth activities and to encourage participation, family interaction, movement/exercise and wellbeing.
As a result Council is now seeking community feedback to enable funding applications to commence for the redevelopment of the basketball courts in Moura.
The Active Gameday Projects fund is an initiative under the Queensland Government’s Activate! Queensland 2019-2029 strategy. The initiative will help community sport and active recreation clubs to fund fit-for-purpose works on playing spaces that meet community-level playing requirements and that encourage greater community participation.
Eligible organisations can make one application to either:
1. install or upgrade sports lights OR
2. develop or upgrade a playing surface/space(s) including irrigation
These are the kinds of projects that will ensure clubs and organisations can maintain a quality field of play for their members to participate safely, while also having the potential to create more opportunities for people to train or compete across more days, and nights.
The basketball courts in Moura currently consists of two separate basketball courts with lighting.
The proposed redevelopment will involve upgrading the surface for one of these courts as a multi-purpose court, suitable for basketball.
Council is seeking input from all members of the community on their preferred option for the second court and remaining area.
Option 1: upgrade second to be a multi-purpose court, also suitable for basketball
Option 2: a multi-purpose play space with handball courts and tennis practice wall
Option 3: other – provide details.
