Calling all music enthusiasts and community groups wanting to host a fun event…

The Festival of Small Halls is gearing up for its upcoming Spring and Summer Tours and we are looking for potential host communities across the Banana Shire.

The Spring tour will run from approximately 28 September to 16 October and the Summer tour will run from approximately 14 November to 18 December.

The Festival of Small Halls Australia is a series of tours that take the best folk and contemporary acoustic artists performing at two large festivals and sends them on the road to tiny halls in communities all over Australia. It’s an opportunity for music-lovers from welcoming communities to invite artists from home and abroad into their towns, and a way of exploring this vast country in the spirit of hospitality and great fun.

Are you a local community group looking for a unique fundraiser?

Do you have a great local hall that can seat approximately 150 people?

Do you have a group of people who are interested to learn more about event management?

Can you commit to hosting within the outlined tour dates?

If you answered yes to these questions then the Festival of Small Halls may be just what you’re looking for!

Hosting a Festival of Small Halls tour will provide you with a unique profit-making opportunity through bar and food sales, add on activities like markets and any profits made from ticket sales. Previous host communities in the Banana Shire have been Goovigen, Theodore, Wowan and Thangool. The opportunity now exists for a community to run this event separate from Council and have the option to make it an annual event. Council is committed to providing this opportunity for our communities and plans to underwrite the event to ensure hosts are in the best position to raise funds, whilst also activating all of the wonderful small halls across the Shire. Hosts will be fully supported by Woodfordia Inc through the Festival of Small Halls for the planning and delivery of the event.

Expressions of Interest (EOI) can be submitted by completing the online survey, click here.

For any enquiries on the EOI process please contact Council’s Community Development Team on 4992 9500.

Expressions of interest close at 5 pm Friday 17 June.

The successful bidder will be chosen on their detail in response to the EOI and venue suitability. Council and Woodfordia Inc will make the decision on which host organisation is successful and no further correspondence will be entered into.
