Banana Shire Council is aware of discoloured water in part of the Biloela Water Supply Scheme and would like to keep residents informed of the current situation.

It is believed the issue is associated with maintenance works involving diversion of water through the trunk mains network that has stirred up sediment in the trunk pipelines. Discoloured water with visible yellow-brown colouration has been reported from residents in Whitlock Place, Lookerbie Street, and Alexandra Avenue.

Flushing of the mains in the known problem areas should be completed in the next few hours.  

The water has been sampled and the safety of the drinking water supply has not been compromised at this time. Banana Shire Council will continue to perform routine monitoring to ensure the safety of the water supply.
