FLOOD DAMAGE TO ROADS IN BANANA SHIRE
FLOOD DAMAGE TO ROADS IN BANANA SHIRE
Council has recently been successful in receiving funding from the Queensland Reconstruction Authority to assist with the repair of roads as a result of the flood event in November and December 2021.
The repair works are extensive and council will need the resources of local contractors to assist Councils maintenance crews over the next 18 months.
The repair works have commenced and will be greatly accelerated once the local contractors are engaged.
However, since December last year the Banana Shire area has received above average rain especially over the winter period causing even more damage to many unsealed roads.
In recognition of the damage caused by recent rain events Banana Shire Council has approved additional funds to grade and supply gravel for sections of road which were adversely effected.
The repair works have been selected for sections on the following roads:
