Banana Shire Council Announces Three Leading Sites for the Biloela Splash Park
Following Community Feedback
Banana Shire Council recently conducted a community engagement plan to seek input from residents regarding the best location for the new Splash Park proposed for Biloela. Council received an impressive 858 responses in total. The community provided 31.2% of votes to Lions Park, 18% to the QLD Rail Reserve and 15.1% to Melton Park.
At the ordinary Council Meeting held on Wednesday 22nd March, Council received and acknowledged the community engagement results outlined in the report provided and endorsed the Lions Park as the preferred location.
Council was thrilled with the level of community engagement and the valuable input received regarding the proposed Splash Park. “It is so important that we engage with our residents in decisions that directly impact them. We want to ensure that the final decision regarding the Splash Park is in line with what the community want,” said Cr Nev Ferrier, Mayor of Banana Shire Council.
Over a four week period from 2nd February to 5th March, residents had the opportunity to vote online or in paper for their preferred location. Council conducted an initial assessment of the seven potential sites rating each location based on factors such as; access, support to local business, ease of construction and maintenance and potential for growth.
The proposed Splash Park in Biloela is an exciting development in the town, not only for the residents of Biloela, but for the entire community of the Banana Shire. The community engagement plan was designed to ensure that the voices of residents were heard and that the final decision reflected the needs and desires of the community.
