Banana Shire Council Hosts National Tree Day Event in Biloela
Banana Shire Council is hosting a National Tree Day event in Biloela on Sunday, 30th July, as part of Planet Ark's National Tree Day initiative. This community-driven event aims to rally residents in contributing to the restoration of the Shire’s unique landscapes.
Set to take place along Callide Street and Thangool Road in Biloela, the event anticipates the planting of over 250 trees by dedicated community members and Council representatives. National Plant a Tree Day has grown to become Australia's largest community tree-planting event since its establishment in 1996.
The Banana Shire community is encouraged to take part in this environmentally conscious occasion. Council has donated the trees that will be planted on the day, while also providing essential supplies such as water, hats and sunscreen. Mayor Nev Ferrier expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "Council is really happy to support this initiative. It's a great opportunity to bring the community together and enhance the natural beauty of our town."
National Tree Day provides an opportunity for individuals to get their hands dirty, connect with nature, and give back to the community. Volunteers across the country join forces each year to plant seedlings and restore thousands of hectares of our precious Australian landscape. This event serves as a call to action, inspiring people to take an active role in environmental conservation and make a positive impact on our surroundings.
This year's event requires no prior registration, welcoming all interested community members to gather at the Biloela Visitor Information Centre at 10:00 am on Sunday, 30th July. Food and drinks will be available at the venue, ensuring participants' comfort throughout the event.
