Renovations Completed at Moura Memorial Swimming Pool Complex
These renovations to the amenities bring an impressive $610,000.00 worth of improvements to the Moura Pool Swimming Complex. Of this amount, Banana Shire Council contributed $360,000.00, further underscoring a commitment to providing modern facilities for the community.
Mayor of the Banana Shire Council, Nev Ferrier stated, "These refurbished amenities will not only offer improved facilities but also serve as an incentive for parents to enrol their children in swimming lessons, a vital step in drowning prevention. Additionally, with the sweltering heat, the upgrades will be a welcomed relief for our local residents."
The renovations have enabled Council to provide new private showering facilities to both the male and female bathrooms, new privacy partitioned changing cubicles, a new disabled toilet and shower designed to current disability access standards, an upgraded swimming club storeroom, a new storeroom for pool operator equipment storage & a fully upgraded combined first aid room & office.
The amenities building also received compliance and safety upgrades by way of new external eaves replacing the non-compliant asbestos materials previously in place, new insulated internal ceilings, electrical and plumbing services upgrade bringing the building to current standards and new gas bottle storage facilities. The building has also received a fresh coat of paint, both internally and externally
To execute these important works, Banana Shire Council, following a tender process, engaged the expertise of Coast2Country Construction who have provided quality workmanship and completed the project on time.
"Coast2Country Construction takes pride in being part of this essential community project. We are dedicated to delivering high-quality work, and we are honoured to see these renovations bring immense value to the Moura community," stated Ross McClure, CEO Coast2Country.
As a tribute to the dedication of the original Moura Pool Memorial Committee, who raised funds for the initial construction in 1991, a selection of the original external colours have been preserved. The incorporation of new colours into the design symbolises the transformation that these renovations will bring, signifying a bright future for the facility.
