The Banana Shire Council has received a request from Telstra to remove the payphone located outside 36 Warren Street, Goovigen.

The nearest alternative payphone is situated in Wowan, the next town over, raising concerns about accessibility for those who rely on the Goovigen payphone for their communication needs. In light of this, the Council is seeking community input to better understand the usage and importance of this payphone.

Residents are encouraged to participate in a survey to share their views on the proposed removal. The feedback collected will play a role in Council’s decision-making process and in discussions with Telstra.

The simple two-question online survey is available below. The deadline for survey submissions is June 5, 2024.
