[11.00-11.30] KEYNOTE - Special Guest - Scientia Professor Veena Sahajwalla - One of our nations’ leading engineers and inventors.

 

Australian Research Council (ARC) Laureate Professor Veena Sahajwalla is an internationally recognised materials scientist, engineer and inventor revolutionising recycling science. She is renowned for pioneering the high temperature transformation of waste in the production of a new generation of ‘green materials.’ Veena pioneers research into waste – turning it into a new generation of green materials and products. Veena is most well known for her invention of Polymer Injection Technology, or ‘Green Steel’. In 2018, she launched the first of many MICROfactories.

She leads two national research and industrial transformation hubs, the ARC Microrecycling Research Hub and the National Environmental Science Program Sustainable Communities and Waste Hub. Veena collaborates with leading universities and institutions, plus industry and community groups, to develop and apply new recycling science into real-world environmental and economic benefits.

Veena was named the NSW Australian of the Year in the 2022 Australia Day Awards. In 2018, Prof. Sahajwalla launched the world's first e-waste microfactory, and in 2019 she launched her plastics microfactory, a recycling technology breakthrough. In 2019, she was also honoured by Engineers Australia as a Centenary Hero for her work.

Samuel has an intrinsic ability to bridge the gap between research and its commercialisation, driving strategic initiatives, fostering innovation, and enabling business growth. He is adept at transforming institutes into recognised brands and cultivating collaborative relationships. Samuel has orchestrated collaboration across national and global sites, enhancing organisational footprint. Over the past three years, he has developed a strategic opportunity value of $250M through international and national collaborative initiatives.

FAQ

What if I miss getting a ticket within the allocated timeframe?

You would still be able to get a ticket until 4th July, or until tickets are fully allocated. However, after the 12pm 12/06/2024 the event would be public and discoverable on Eventbrite, meaning you would be competing for your free ticket with businesses from across Central Queensland.

 

 

Other matters

Filming and photography are not permitted.

Reason: Participating business speakers often want to share what they do and any innovations they are in the process of implementing – to benefit and knowledge share with participants. As such filming and photography are inappropriate for such events.

 

Registrations

 

Please ensure you register with a business email address (e.g @businessname.com.au) for verification purposes. This ensures that limited tickets are allocated to verified business representatives.

If you are a small business using @gmail / @outlook and other generic email extensions, please still obtain a ticket but let Council know of that. We would verify to AUKUS Forum that you are a small local business and ensure your ticket is not cancelled.

 

PLEASE NOTE: The venue is small, and tickets are limited to 80. Council kindly requests you only obtain a ticket if you truly intend to attend. If you obtain a ticket, please ensure you book out your calendar for 9th July.
