Banana Shire Council Announces Winners of the 2025 Australia Day Photography Competition
Banana Shire Council is proud to announce the winners of its annual Australia Day Photography Competition, themed "Elements Unleashed”. With over 100 entries, local photographers captured the raw beauty and power of nature, resulting in an outstanding collection of images that showcase our region.
Taking out first place was Alana Carter, with her stunning image titled “Goodmorning Sunrise” capturing the dawn breaking through clouds over Banana Shire.
Securing second place was Christopher Mantle whose dramatic image of a lightning strike vividly portrays the energy of a storm across the Shire.
The competition also featured a People’s Choice Award allowing the community to vote for their favourite photograph. Dano Ryan took out this category for his striking image titled “Full Force” showcasing the power of a lightning storm within the Shire.
Mayor Nev Ferrier praised the creativity and skill displayed in this year's competition saying, "The quality of entries this year was outstanding. It is great to see our community embracing photography to capture the elements that shape our region. Congratulations to our winners, and a huge thank you to everyone who took part."
